Why make your own Lindseed gel?
It is easier to make than aloe vera. Also its nutrients are guaranteed while aloe depends on the plant and if not tested your aloe gel may not be as efficient as you think. More importantly it’s a LOT CHEAPER
– 200g of linseed will cost you 3-5$ and will make LITERS of GEL! Lastly, if aloe does not grow in your country, it will be more eco-friendly!
What nutrients does lindseed gel contain?
The gel only contains the water soluble nutrients of the seeds which are copper, B vitamins, magnesium, potassium, iron, calcium and manganese and other trace elements.
What are the benefits for the skin?
The gel has antioxidant, anti-angeing, softening, smooting and sebum regulation properties.
It will:
- Protect your skin from external damage as it regulates cellular regeneration and repair
- Reduce inflammation and redness
- Improve collagen metabolism
Regular use will help your skin to be bright with a radiant complexion. Personally I have acne prone skin so oily, break out and dry. I use the gel in my daily cleanser and weekly mask and I can see a change just after use, which rarely happens with my type of skin!
What are the benefits for hair?
This gel will nourish your hair making it thicker, strengthening them and potentially increasing hair growth.
Personally I use it in my hair mask that I keep overnight before washing my hair but lots of people like to use it as regular gel to define their curls for example. I also usually add a spoon of it in my chickpea shampoo as I noticed that it helps to remove excess oil from a hair mask better.
What you need to make it
For 500ml you will need:
- 3 Table spoons of lindseed (brown or golden)
- 5 cups of water
The method
- Pour the water and the seeds into a pan
- Bring to boil
- When it boils turn the fire down for 10 minutes
- Leave it cool down for 5 minutes
- Use a cloth or old tights to filter it
- Press the seeds to extract all the remaining of the gel
- Let it cool down
It’s ready to use! You can keep it for up to 5 days in your fridge or if you would like to keep it for longer you’d need a natural or eco preservative.
